Winner of Moto-Pfohe Conservation and Environmental Grants 2010

The official awarding Ceremony was held on May 27th in the Sofia City Arts Gallery. The national jury anounced the winners in 2010 Moto-Pfohe Conservation and Environmental Grants.

And the winners are:

· National winner – Thracian Royal Residence in ‘Kozi Gramady’ region close to the town of Hissar. The project comes from the National Museum of history, author Dr. Ivan Christov. It aims in further research of the archeological site called Thracian Royal Residence, dated from VI-V century BC, located in the Hissar municipality, Polvdiv region. The project receives BGN 10,000.

· Encouragement price 1 – Center for protection and breeding of land tortoises (Testudo hermani) in Dragoman, Kalotina region. It aims in rehabilitation of the population and the local genotype of the generally endangered species, as well as changing the attitude of local people in Dragoman towards the nature preservation. The project receives BGN 5,000.

· Encouragement price 2 – “Oh, beautiful girl” – project of Special secondary school and kindergarten for children with hearing disorders “Prof. Decho Dechev”, Sofia. The name of a famous Bulgarian song, “Oh, beautiful girl”, marks the efforts of 511 students trough concerts and exhibitions to strengthen their connection to national folklore traditions – dances, music, customs and rituals. The project receives BGN 5,000.

The Conservation and Environmental Grants had their 13th edition in 2010. It was organized in Bulgaria for the first time in 1996. 893 projects have participated in the program during theese years. 63 of them have been awarded.
