Volvo World Golf Challenge

The 12th edition of the oldest golf tournament in Bulgaria – Volvo World Golf Challenge – was held on 26th of August. Fabio Furnari won the fierce competition in Division A with a gross score of 74 strokes. He won the grand prize awarded by Moto-Pfohe – participation in the World Finals of Volvo World Golf Challenge in Sweden. Stefan Kralchev took the second place with 75 strokes and Aleksandar Eftimov came third with 76.

A total of 88 golfers divided into three divisions took part in this year’s edition of the prestigious golf tournament. Division A (handicap 0-9) format was individual stroke play on 18 holes, while golfers in Division B (handicap 10-19) and Division C (handicap 20-28) competed in an individual stableford format on 18 holes. Division B and Division C winners – Iliya Kirchev with 37 strokes and Boyka Mitsanska with a net score of 34 strokes – won vouchers for a weekend stay in a luxurious complex in Bansko and a test drive of the new Volvo XC60.    

Volvo’s latest SUV model – XC60 – was the special surprise for the tournament participants and the Pirin Golf and Country Club guests. The car was announced also as a prize for a Hole-in-one stroke but no one of the participants managed to make the most coveted stroke. Nevertheless, all participants were given the opprtunity to test XC60 as well as  the other models of the Volvo range.

Volvo golf tournament is organised by Moto-Pfohe for a 12th consecutive year. The competition is a part of the Volvo World Golf Challenge international race – one of the most popular and exciting golf challenges which has been gathering together keen golfers from all over the world since 1988.
