1,527 BULGARIAN CREWS TOGETHER BROKE THE GUINNESS RECORD FOR THE LONGEST PARADE OF FORD VEHICLES

Bulgaria left another new and unique mark among world achievements – with the longest parade of Ford vehicles on the planet. More than 2,300 cars traveled the distance of 3.5 km together. All of them passed the route but according to Guinness requirements only 1,527 were officially acknowledged. This makes twice more participants than in the former record in the USA! Thus Guinness officially recognised the Bulgarian world record for extraordinary!

Among the vehicles gathered there were incredibly impressive  Ford models, obviously maintained with a lot of care and attention by their owners – Model A from the 1930s, exotic cars such as Taunus, Probe, Mercury, Granada, Maverick, Cougar, a classic Mustang from the 1970s, Thunderbird, Explorer, F-150, Cobra, even 2017 Mustang Shelby GT350 and many more.

The participants were gathering for several hours, during which young and old played games, the children painted and coloured, while the parents were challenged, or not, by questions about Ford’s history. The correct answers, the most ingenious and artistic performances brought various prizes from Metro, McDonald’s and Ford. The gathering turned into a real celebration for the fans of the brand in Bulgaria, who spent the Saturday morning together united by their common passion for the Blue Oval.

The host Vladi Aprilov was informing the guests by announcing the number of arriving participants, the rules of the record and other interesting achievements from the Guinness Book. This festival also didn’t go without music. Surprisingly, on the impromptu stage Getoman appeared and rapped in honour of the Ford fans.

The event was opened by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Borisov, who came early and was immediately surrounded by media and participants. He examined part of the vehicles, took a walk among them and talked to many people, and finally wished everyone good luck.

Before the official start of the record at 11:00 a.m. from the improvised tribune on the platform of a Ford Transit chassis cabin Philip Pfohe – owner of Moto-Pfohe, the deputy ambassador of the USA in Bulgaria Martina Strong and the Guinness judge Lena Coolman welcomed the participants and called upon them to break the record. The ministers Lilyana Pavlova and Ivaylo Moskovski also attended the event.

The four-time winner of the Bulgarian rally championship Krum Donchev led the queue with the new Ford Mustang and the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Asen Markov assumed the role of his navigator. He urged all drivers to drive carefully during the summer and wished the enthusiastic participants to break the record!

The registrations on the website went on rapidly until the last minute and the enthusiasm was expressed digitally in the form of 2,178 participants, but the ones who came on site significantly exceeded expectations.

The last similar Guinness record for the longest queue of Ford cars was set in North America in 2014 with 829 cars, which today humble Bulgaria improved twofold. Thus, we reached and passed Americans in terms of this indicator.
