Ford’s European Commercial Vehicle Share Hits 6-Year High; More All-New CVs Coming in 2014 Complete Full Makeover

COLOGNE, Germany, Feb. 5, 2014 – Ford Motor Company’s increased commercial vehicle sales in 2013 – driven by all-new products – drove the company to its highest share of the CV market since 2007.

Ford sold 186,200 commercial vehicles in Europe during 2013, 11,000 more than the previous year. The company’s market share increased to 9.2 per cent from 8.5 per cent the prior year, the biggest share increase of any automaker in Europe.

Ford’s sales growth was driven in particular by demand for the new Transit Custom 1-tonne van and the Ranger pickup. Ford sold 41,500 Transit Custom vans in 2013, the first full year of production, and 15,400 award-winning Ranger pickups – up 49 per cent on 2012.

During 2014, Ford will complete the 24-month renewal and expansion of its commercial vehicle line-up in Europe. Ford launched Transit Connect and new Fiesta Van in 2013, after debuting Ranger and Transit Custom in 2012. The new range is finalised with the introduction of the 2-tonne Transit and small Transit Courier in the first half of this year.

The Ford Transit Connect was last year named “International Van of the Year 2014,” making Ford the first single manufacturer to win the award for two consecutive years, after the Transit Custom was named the winner the previous year.

“Ford now has the freshest commercial vehicle line-up in Europe, and our latest products are bringing significantly more customers into Ford showrooms and Transit Centres,” said Kevin Griffin, director, Commercial Vehicle Marketing and Sales, Ford of Europe. “With more all-new products coming on stream this year, we are confident that our share growth will continue.”
